flux cycles (2023)

A recurring interest in my work is the notion of symmetry. Symmetrical music, in the time domain, ultimately loops back on itself as a cycle. In “flux cycles,” I wanted to create cyclical musical material that expresses the idea of flux (borrowed from physics, meaning passing through a surface or substance). Collections of sound emerge, ebbing and flowing, creating sonic environments whereby endings imply beginnings. However, instead of repeating, each environment ultimately transitions to a new shape, a new cycle.
