subvitreous (2021)

7’; tenor sax, vc, electric gtr, keyboard, electronics.

subvitreous refers to the luster of my favorite color and stone — turquoise. A luster that is subvitreous is almost but not quite vitreous, in which vitreous means made of, or resembling, glass. The fundamental pitch of this piece, Bb, is hidden — almost but not quite heard, until the piece nears its end and the full mineralogy of the piece becomes apparent.
