the queering of fragile notes (2022)

20′; solo piano

In this piece I aim to subvert the piano’s societally constructed tuning – equal temperament – by using its existing framework to develop a microtonal language. In this way, such subversion of a hegemonic system becomes a personal queering practice, in which delicate pitches slip away from their equal tempered positions, solidifying new identities along a spectrum.
